Studies show that Texas, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, etc. have higher pregnancy rates because they don't provide proper sexual education for their students. New Mexico's contraception use is 60.5% lower than any other state ( http://thinkprogress.org/health/2013/03/01/1640851/states-teen-pregnancy-rates/). This is because they teach abstinence and not the use of contraception. This relates to logos because this website shows the statistics compared to every other state and points out that New Mexico is the highest rate of pregnancy. The states that have the lowest ratings of pregnancy are those who provide talks of both contraception and abstinence. They would rather you be abstinent but they don't force you to be by explaining how to properly use contraception which causes their pregnancy rate much smaller.
According to the CDC the rate of pregnancies have dropped 9% because they talked about contraception rather than abstinence. The CDC officials are reliable and respected throughout our health knowledge. Mississippi is one of the highest ratings of pregnancy because the schools don't require sex education at all. Parents should be informed when their child is being taught about contraception but it should still be required. If parents would like to take out their child from the class then it should be on them if the outcome of their child gets pregnant.
They are using fear because they show all the diseases you can possibly get if you don't use contraception and if you're pregnant your life can be completely different. They show you pictures and all these examples of all these diseases that you can potentially die from. They also scare you into not having sex because they tell you all the cons of not having a baby at a young age. Some young teen parents don't finish their schooling and end up dropping out. Higher rates of health problems can happen with teens who have kids young.
In conclusion these are all very valid reasons as to why we should provide sexual education in schools. Parents don't always properly explain contraception, they just want their kid to not have sex at all. In reality their kid might get tempted to do so and if they aren't properly instructed on contraception it could lead to pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases. We used Logos, Ethos, Fear to point out the flaws of not having sexual education in our school systems.
